Airport Operations students will be seeking two practicum experiences in 2022. Whenever possible, the schedule has been designed for maximum flexibility for hosts and students as well as maximum potential for the success of the project by providing a short "break" between terms, which coincides with the beginning or the end of the practicum. It allows an opportunity for the host and student to develop a schedule that maximizes the benefits to the project.
Term 2 practicum students are knowledgeable and enthusiastic. They have completed course work in technical writing, communications, leadership, marketing, governance, project management, aviation security and safety. They also have some knowledge of terminal and airside operations.
Next, Term 3 practicum students are eager to put their knowledge, skills and experience to good use. They are familiar with quality systems, airport safety, emergency preparedness, environment and wildlife management systems, terminal and groundside safety, planning, design and capacity. This year the Term 3 Workplace Practicum will begin December 16for approximately 150 hours and/or 5 weeks. This longer second practicum has made it viable for some international students to have made arrangements to complete their practicum in their home country, thus gaining valuable work experience in an international setting
